Style Icon: Fearne Cotton // Teen Blog Series

Hey guys!

Teen Bloggers Anouska Millar and Beth have decided to start a project called #TeenBlogSeries. Its aim is to bring together lots of the teens/young adults in the blogging community. For the next ten consecutive weeks, over 80 bloggers will be writing every Monday at 6:30pm about many different things, all beauty, lifestyle or fashion related. You can view everyones posts by going to the hashtag on twitter "TeenBlogSeries". If you would like to get involved email: anouskateenblogger@googlemail.com

My style icon (and hairspiration) is Fearne Cotton. I love her sense of style, I always try and work a bit of Fearne into either my clothes, hair or makeup. I love how she can wear a pretty, girly dress and then toughen it up with a leather jacket and boots; it's exactly the kind of thing I love! Below are some of my favourite outfits that she's worn. I love how she can use colour to brighten up a look yet she still manages to keep that edge. She loves a bit of grunge and darkness, like myself, yet she still uses colour. It's exactly the kind of look I aim for in my day to day life.

This is an outfit I wore whilst I was out with my family for a meal. I would say it's got a hint of Fearne about it. I paired black skinny jeans (Primark) and a black and white stripy blouse (also Primark). I then added boots (unknown) and a leather jacket (USC) to toughen the look up and then finally finished it off with a gold statement necklace (New Look). My hair is also slightly like Fearne's. I waved it with my straighteners to get a slightly beachy/wavy yet messy vibe.

On a sad note, this is the last proper blog post from the #TeenBlogSeries and I have really enjoyed writing these posts. They've been so much fun to put together and they have helped me get my blogging motivation back! Woop Woop!

Hope you've enjoyed reading my posts! Who's your style icon?

Beauty Tips & Tricks // Teen Blog Series

Hey guys!

Today I thought I'd share with you my top 10 beauty tips and tricks! Enjoy, I hope they help you out!

1. Apply nail varnish to the free edge of your nail. This helps to prevent your nail varnish from chipping.

2. Apply concealer in a triangle under your eyes. This helps cover your circles better.

3. Drink plenty of water for clear skin, I started doing that this holiday and my gosh have I noticed a difference. My skin looks and feels so much healthier and brighter.

4. To make a gel eyeliner, heat up a pencil using a hairdryer for a few seconds, let it cool for a couple of seconds and et voila, one gel eyeliner!

5. Place natural yoghurt on a spot to help get rid of it.

6. Use a chapstick to soothe and hydrate a dry nose.

7. Apply dry shampoo at night, this lets it be fully absorbed/ worked into the hair. It also adds volume.

8. Apply perfume to the inside of your wrist, base of throat, behind your ear, inside elbow and behind knee. This makes it last longer.

9. Always have a cotton bud handy when doing winged eyeliner.

10. Use your ring finger when doing anything around your eyes. It uses the least pressure and is therefore better for your delicate skin.

Balancing Blogging with School // Teen Blog Series

Hey guys!

Teen Bloggers Anouska Millar and Beth have decided to start a project called #TeenBlogSeries. Its aim is to bring together lots of the teens/young adults in the blogging community. This week we're talking about juggling school and blogging. I must admit that I am pretty bad at this at times. Sometimes it is near impossible to manage all of the homework/coursework and find time to take blog photos, edit them and write the posts and still have a social life! It's hard work!

My blogs will probably take a back seat in the next 2 years as I will be focusing on my GCSE's - I have to put my full attention on them to do well. I'll always love blogging and will always come back, but for me, balancing blogging and school is pretty darn hard!

Some of the things I do to help save time are take loads of pictures all at once! This means that you have loads of posts photos taken all at the same time and don't have to take each posts photos individually. Also, take loads of photos, never take just one, 9 times out of 10 you won't like it.

If you need to edit your photos, edit them all at the same time. This saves time. Upload your photos to the right posts at the same time. This helps me massively! I can take the photos, edit them and then upload them to the correct posts. I never have to worry about losing the photo as it's already on the post.

If school work takes over completely then think about getting some guest bloggers so that your blog still has some content on it, or if school work takes over write a post explaining why you might not be posting. Lots of bloggers have been there themselves so will probably understand how hard it is. I certainly do, I find it hard to balance projects, regular homework and blogging each week extremely hard work!

Lastly, holidays are great times to write blog posts. As I write this it's the 29th August. You have more time on your hands to get posts written and scheduled. Sometimes I aim to write a term's worth of posts in the holiday so it's like I have written a post each week. For example 7 week term, I write 7 posts in the holidays. Each week one of those posts is published. Then the next holiday comes around and you do the same. This means you can do your school work without having to worry about blogging.

Those are my tips for balancing school and blogging, I should probably follow my own tips as, like I say, I am useless at this!

What do you do to keep on top of blogging, school and life?
